The Effect of Increasing Awareness of Puberty Changes on the Resilience and Distress Tolerance in Female Teens

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate effectiveness of increasing awareness of puberty changes on the resilience and distress tolerance in female Teens of first high school.
Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental with pre-posttest and control group. The statistical population included female Teens of firs period of high school in number 15 Educational zone of Tehran city by 2017. Sixty female Teens were chosen as available sampling method and randomly were assigned in two groups as control and experimental. The experimental group received 10 sessions of the intervention program of awareness of puberty changes. Then, post-test was performed for two groups. For data collecting used the Conner -Davidson resilience scale (2003) and Simons and Gaher distress tolerance scale (1980). Data analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) and utilized with SPSS software version 21.
Results: The analysis illustrated that awareness of puberty changes amounts of resilience and distress tolerance in female Teens were significantly increased in experimental than control group (P < 0.001).
Conclusions: According to the findings, awareness of puberty changes could be a good approach to improve the resilience and distress tolerance in female Teens. The thinners and health professionals of maturity hygiene could be held the classes in schools and take place workshops to increasing the resiliency and Torrance toward the puberty issues among female adolescents.
