The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between psychological capital and perceived organizational support with work engagement of the nurses in one public hospital. Methods: In this descriptive correlational study, the study population included all nurses in Ayatollah Taleghani Hospital, Tehran, in 2017. The sample consisted of 180 nurses who were selected using the convenience sampling method. Measurement tools included the work engagement scale and psychological capital and perceived organizational support questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis). Results: Pearson correlation analyses showed that there was a significant positive relationship between psychological capital and perceived organizational support with work engagement (P < 0.01). Also, the results of the regression analysis showed that psychological capital and perceived organizational support had a significant role in explaining the variance in work engagement and could predict work engagement (P < 0.001). Conclusions: The findings of the present study show the importance of the role of psychological capital and perceived organizational support in predicting nurses’ work engagement.
