Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on life, turning it into a stressful and exhausting experience for society. Various studies have shown that the use of mobile applications in providing mental health services has been effective on a wide range of problems, such as anxiety and stress. This study aimed to investigate the effect of virtual stress management training on the anxiety of COVID-19 in the employees of Karaj city municipality headquarters in 2022. Methods:This study was a semi-experimental before-after study with a control group. The Participants included 70 employees of Karaj City Municipality headquarters in 1401, who were randomly assigned to two intervention and control groups (35 people in each group). Data collection tools included a demographic questionnaire and the Coronavirus Disease Anxiety Scale. The intervention was carried out during two weeks with five 45-minute sessions and one evaluation session, three sessions each week. Data analysis was done with SPSS version 22. Results: Before the intervention, the two groups did not have a statistically significant difference in terms of demographic characteristics, anxiety score, and its dimensions (p > 0.05). After the intervention, the anxiety score and its dimensions in the intervention group decreased significantly compared to before the intervention (p < 0.05). No significant difference was observed in the control group before and after the intervention. Also, after the intervention, the score of psychological symptoms and the overall score of anxiety in the intervention group were significantly reduced compared to the control group (p<0.05). Conclusions:According to the obtained results, it can be stated that virtual stress management training reduces COVID-19 anxiety in the employees of the Karaj Municipality Headquarters; therefore, conducting training sessions to teach how to deal with anxiety makes it possible to better cope with the psychological consequences of the disease.
