The prevalence obsessive- compulsive disorder in students in Khoy University in 2013

Introduction: Obsessive compulsive disorder is one of the most common of the mental disorder that influences all aspects of life. According to the high prevalence of obsessive-compulsive disorder and long-term adverse effects on interpersonal relationships and communication, so the aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and factors related it's in students Khoy University in 2012. Methods: This research is a descriptive - analytic study. The samples were included of 800 students from universities in the city of Khoy. The samples were selected using quota sampling. The instrument for data collection was MOCI questionnaire and demographic questionnaire. Data were analyzed with descriptive and analytical statistics. Results: Showed that among the 692 returned questionnaires, 237 cases (34.2%) based on Moudzly Inventory had score 11 or higher that means Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Most of obsessive compulsive related to uncertainty (27/5%), obsessive-reviewed (11/4%), obsessive-washing (10/1%), obsessive-repetition (5.6%). there was significant relationship between washing obsessive whit low economic status and Checking obsessive whit marital status. Chi² test did not show significant differences between gender, marital status, economic status, religious affiliations with OCD. Conclusion: According to the obtained results OCD has high prevalence among students. This shown that preventive workups were done to reduce psychiatric disorder among student therefore greater attentions must be given to this issue by the authorities.
