Introduction: Despite the expansion of humanistic, person-centered, and experiential interventions in Iran, there is no appropriate indigenous and reliable instrument for evaluating therapists working within these approaches. The present study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale. Method: This study was a descriptive–analytical psychometric investigation. The study population consisted of all person-centered/experiential therapists in the city of Mashhad, from whom four therapists were purposively selected as the sample. First, the translation validity of the scale was examined using the translation–back-translation method, and its validity was reported as satisfactory. Then, 84 video segments of 20-minute therapy sessions from the four therapists with their clients were extracted. These videos were independently rated by eight evaluators. To examine the factor structure, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted using the KMO index and Bartlett’s test of sphericity, followed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using AMOS software. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha for the subscales and the total scale. Results: The KMO measure of sampling adequacy was 0.912, and Bartlett’s test was significant (χ² = 947.43, df = 105, p < 0.001). Exploratory factor analysis yielded two factors: a “person-centered” factor including 10 items (explaining 46.76% of the variance) and an “experiential” factor including 5 items (explaining 24.53% of the variance), which together explained 71.29% of the total variance of the scale. All rotated factor loadings were high and satisfactory (mostly above 0.80). In confirmatory factor analysis, all factor loadings were significant and above 0.70, and model fit indices were within acceptable ranges (CFI = 0.98, GFI = 0.90, RMSEA = 0.049). Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were 0.95 for the person-centered factor, 0.901 for the experiential factor, and 0.91 for the total scale. Convergent validity indices were also reported as satisfactory. Conclusion: The findings indicate that the Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy Scale has very strong validity and internal reliability in a sample of Iranian person-centered–experiential therapists. This scale can be used to assess the competence and adherence of trainees and therapists within person-centered and experiential approaches, as well as for clinical supervision of therapists in these orientation
